About Secular Homeschoolers of Colorado

Secular Homeschoolers of Colorado (SHOC) was established by Ari Armstrong in January 2026. Ari and his wife Jennifer have been homeschooling their son Quin since 2020.

SHOC is an explanatory and educational project focused on secular homeschooling in Colorado. It is not a membership organization, a legal service, or a political action group. Its purpose is to provide clear, accurate information for families, journalists, and policymakers.

Ari Armstrong is a Colorado-based writer, editor, and former tutor who has written about education and public policy. The material on this site reflects his family's homeschooling experience and his independent research.

SHOC is currently a private project and is not legally organized as a nonprofit, though formal nonprofit status may be considered in the future. If you are interested in helping to fund SHOC as a potential nonprofit, please contact Ari.

The stegosaurus on the site banner was drawn by Quin in honor of Colorado’s official state fossil.
